Your 6-Month Wedding Beauty Prep Timeline

Wondering when to get your hair colored, schedule your bridal hair and makeup preview, get a facial, dermaplane, spray tan, or book your manicure before your wedding?

A little planning goes a long way! Our professional bridal hair and makeup artists created this wedding beauty prep timeline to help you get your hair, skin, brows, and nails wedding-day ready.

6 Months Before

Now is the time to establish a consistent beauty routine.

  • Find trusted professionals and schedule routine facials, dermaplaning, manicures, waxing, and other treatments.
  • Grow out your eyebrows and have them professionally shaped. A brow-enhancing serum can help fill sparse or over-plucked areas.
  • If you’re wearing a veil, make sure it has a metal comb rather than plastic. An alterations specialist can usually replace a plastic comb.
  • Planning to wear clip-in extensions? Start shopping early so you have them for your bridal hair preview. Read our Bridal Hair Extensions Guide for tips on choosing the right set:

Wash, condition, dry, and comb your extensions before your preview and again before the wedding.

3 Months Before

Hair: Have your hair cut and colored close to how you’d like it for the wedding. If your inspiration includes loose face-framing pieces, ask your hairstylist to add shorter layers around your face.

Teeth: Begin whitening with at-home strips or schedule professional whitening treatments.

1–2 Months Before

This is the perfect time to complete your bridal hair and makeup preview.

Bring your veil, hair accessories, and prepared extensions so your artist can see the complete look.

Keep your skincare routine consistent:

  • Cleanse, tone, moisturize, and use eye cream morning and night.
  • Wear SPF daily.
  • Gently exfoliate your face and lips 1–2 times per week.
  • Continue monthly facials and dermaplaning if they’re already part of your routine.

Avoid introducing aggressive new skincare treatments close to your wedding.

2 Weeks Before

Schedule your final hair trim and color refresh.

Continue your normal skincare routine and stick with gentle treatments you know work well for your skin.

4–5 Days Before

Schedule your final dermaplaning appointment.

Dermaplaning removes dead surface skin and peach fuzz, helping create a smoother canvas for long-lasting bridal makeup.

3 Days Before

  • Complete final brow shaping, waxing, or other hair removal.
  • Use a hydrating hair treatment.
  • Apply a hydrating face mask you know works well for your skin.
  • Treat yourself to a massage—you’ve earned it!

2 Days Before

If you’re getting a spray tan before your wedding, today is a great day to do it.

Ideally, you’ve already done a trial so you know exactly what shade and formula you like.

1 Day Before

Your final wedding beauty prep:

  • Get your manicure and pedicure.
  • Drink plenty of water and get extra sleep.
  • Gently exfoliate and moisturize your face and lips.
  • Use your normal at-home teeth whitener if desired.
  • Wash, condition, and completely blow-dry your hair before bed, unless you’ve booked a professional blow-dry service.
  • Steam your dress, veil, and other garments.

Don’t wait until the wedding morning to steam dresses. The heat and humidity from steaming can interfere with freshly styled hair and makeup.

Wedding Morning

Keep it simple!

Face: Cleanse, tone, and moisturize.

Lips: Gently exfoliate and moisturize.

Hair: Arrive with your hair prepared according to your stylist’s instructions.

Then sit back, relax, and let your bridal hair and makeup team take it from here.
